A New Year and a New Start

A new year always brings with it a clean slate. Many of us set personal goals to improve our overall well-being. It's a great time to review goals with your child as well.  Maybe you could encourage them to set some academic goals...spend more time reading, get lost in a few chapter books, encourage them to talk to you about what they are reading.  It may be the perfect time to talk with them about what they think they are doing well and maybe what they think they could work a little harder at.  I am taking on a few things to better myself as a teacher. Beginning Monday after school I will be taking a Google class being offered by the district.  When this class ends I will immediately start another technology class to make the most of the technology I currently have and in prepararation for going 1:1 with devices next school year.  Even though it means a very long day for the next twelve weeks and not seeing much of my family on Monday afternoons, I'm excited about all that I will learn and be able to being back into our classroom and teach my kids.
