This blog will provide a small window into our classroom activities. Students and parents will have an opportunity to share ideas and comments with members of our CFG family.

"Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner"
Thank you so much for supporting our Chick-fil-A Spirit Night on Tuesday. Our class had the highest percentage for participation! :) Today PTA surprised us by decorating our door. Three of our kiddos won Chick-fil-A gift cards when their names were drawn out of all of the slips of those who attended. Thank you so much for supporting CFG! I hope to continue our winning streak next month! I've heard that Ms.Plumley's class was close on our heels...so try to come on September 23rd. Thanks for all you do!

The World in Our Hands
We have finished globes! The kids really enjoyed this activity! It was a great way to introduce our map study. They took pride in their project, worked as a team, and learned where the continents and oceans belong in the process. I hope they will never forget their first week of third grade at CFG! Check out the pictures below- you can see how proud they are of the finished project. We are well on our way to a great year in room 208.

And We Have Water...
Today we were able to paint our globes and learned a song about the continents. Students also learned that their teacher can't sing-but that she is willing to try! Tomorrow we will add continents to our globes. I am so proud of how well everyone is working as a team to finish this group project. I can't wait to see the final product!

Our Journey Has Begun...
We have had a great start to our school year! Today we were finding "me on the map" by locating where we live in relationship to our city, state, country, and continent. We used Google Earth to check out North America, the United States, South Carolina, Chesnee, CFG, and even took a look at my house. Then we made paper mâché globes. If your child came home with some white spots on their shirts, I'm so sorry- but good news, it's just flour and water. :)
Students will have a chance to find their house on Google Earth later in the week. If you haven't checked out Google Earth, it's very cool! Take a look at the sweet faces in the pictures- it sure looks like they were having fun! :) I will take picture of the finished projects later in the week.
Stay tuned- there's loads of learning going on in room 208!

Starting a New School Year
August 5, 2014
Welcome Back!
This is one of my favorite times of year! I start getting "school fever" when the school supplies show up in stores. Who doesn't love a new box of crayons all perfectly sharpened and just waiting to be picked to create a masterpiece. From shopping for supplies for my classroom to helping my kids organize their supplies for school, and getting them all packed and ready for the first day...it just doesn't get any better than that!My classroom is set up, the floors are shiny, and the building looks great! The only thing missing is another great group of third graders- YOU! So as I head back to work officially next week, I will begin preparing activities for our first week of school, participate in staff development, and spend a few minutes with each of you on "Meet the Teacher" day, matching faces to names. Before we know it, the first day of school will be here. I will be excited and maybe just a little anxious (I probably won't sleep the night before).
So, as we begin this new school year, I want you to know that I am so happy that YOU are in my classroom-we will very quickly become family...I can't wait to get started! "LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN!"
